Titus Andronicus have never prided themselves on the art of subtlety. With raucous guitar riffs that stretch on through six, seven, sometimes 14-minute long visceral epics, touching on topics equal parts political and historical, length is their forte. Whew. But in the spirit of new beginnings, their first album in three years accompanies a name abbreviation: now “+@”, the New Jersey rockers are set to release The Most Lamentable Tragedy (re: TMLT) on July 28th. TMLT is the product of frontman Patrick Stickles’ restless mind, as unrestrained and violently transient as the band’s sound. The record will span 2 CDs, or 3 LPs, making it into a prolific rock opera. The narrative follows a deeply distressed fictional protagonist and his personal odyssey. Joining the ranks of +@ on the album will be a stream of guests, including Elio DeLuca, Owen Pallett, The So So Glos, Lost Boy?, and more.
