Jamaica Plain’s beloved The Video Underground announced via Facebook this afternoon that it will be closing soon, date to be announced. JP residents and longtime customers were all hoping this day would never come.
The message read:
The Video Underground would like to thank all of its patrons over our nearly 12 years in Jamaica Plain for all of their support throughout the years. We will closing our doors for good in the near future and will be running a HUGE going out of business sale. Come on by and say hi and check out the savings on tons of rare, foreign, out of print, and music DVDs and videos! Thanks again for all the love. -VU
The shop has opened in 2002 and provided an alternative to the Netflix, bootleg, and RedBox culture of today with a collection of over 15,000 titles in stock. Details on the blowout sale and official closing forthcoming.
RIP The Video Underground 2002-2013
