WLLMSBRG SHRED IN THE SUPER 88 PARKING LOT, RELEASE DEBUT EP

WLLMSBRG blew our minds early this morning, check and around 10:20AM their intimate, nurse lo-fi, home recorded, stream of consciousness, brilliant, dirty and loud punk rock vibes and lifestyle in the Super 88 parking lot. You know, the one near the Shaw’s and the bike shop with the really scary mannequins with the faces that are like, are you truly this excited to be biking or were you bought secondhand from a smut shop?

I digress. Suffice it to say, Abraham (the leader), Curt (the dreamy one) and Shirtless Mike (the loose cannon with an attitude problem and a heart of gold) arrived an hour late to a parking lot full of Allston punk obsessives that had hauled ass out of bed for the occasion. Kendra, who Abraham had recruited via Tinder shortly before the gig, passed out a few mixtapes at the show, and I was fortunate enough to beat the twee girl in front of me in an act of “vigilante punk justice” and have heard the whole tape.

The concert, if you can call three young dreamers from Allston that, was fucking transcendent, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t share a moment with those bystanders in the lot, which reeked of piss and people trying to park. WLLMSBRG commands an audience unlike any audience I’ve ever seen – their lyrics were so raw, their performances so honest (Shirtless Mike, true to form, kept his torso bare) that you barely noticed when Curt’s guitar essentially broke. Abraham’s caterwaul lingered above all, even after Shirtless Mike threw a drumstick into the air and landed on the roof of the Super 88.

Now to their tape, called The Blossom EP – I’m not sure if the old phone messages from the mid-90s on the other side of the cassette are a part of the tape, but if they are then that’s really awesome and my favorite track is “Your Prescription Is Here.” On the A side, their lo-fi vibes translate perfectly on this raw, barely produced piece that we hear Abraham mumble at the beginning of the track as being put down in “my mom’s guest bathroom.” Like the other guys in the band, his parents are upper middle class lawyers and don’t like him that much.

“Holy shit”
