New year, new music eh eh. Come under our umbrella and listen to some nü songs from both local and national artists that are krillin it these days.
Orca Orca, “Ok, Lost”
Orca Orca released the first song off their upcoming 7″, The Shallows, which will be out March 25th via Disposable America. Jimmy Hewitt of Orca Orca describes the most recent recording experience, “I really wanted to have a more cohesive feeling this time around by recording everything in one day.” “Ok, Lost” exemplifies this and feels like all the instrumental layers are one machine.
Designer/Bbigpigg Split Cassette on BUFU Records
Designer and Bbigpigg teamed up to put out a noisy cacophony of sounds that is jarring in true Designer and Bbigpigg fashion but also really catchy. The two are on a short tour together right now, and you can catch them on these remaining dates if you so please.
Tonight January 16th – Pittsburgh, PA
January 18th – Windham, CT
Potty Mouth, “First Thing”
Potty Mouth are still catching the high of September’s Hell Bent, but that doesn’t stop them from writing new material. This week they performed a new song “First Thing” in a BreakThru Radio Serious Business session. You can hear the new song at the 4:10 mark.
Tweens, “Be Mean”
Cincinnati’s Tweens are so good, and 2014 is going to be a huge year for them. Their self-titled debut will be out April 8th on Frenchkiss. Listen to “Be Mean,” the first single off the album now until the end of time.
Perfect Pussy, “Driver”
Perfect Pussy have premiered the first track off their upcoming LP Say Yes to Love, which is out March 18th on Captured Tracks. Listen to “Driver,” a perfect (pussy) example of their noisiest goodness. It’s interesting to hear they have kept the same lo-fi feel after newly signing to a label.
Solids, “Haze Away”
I caught Solids a few months ago at Great Scott, and they are one of the most impressive duos I’ve heard in a long time. Their debut album Blame Confusion is out February 18th on Fat Possum Records, and “Haze Away” is the second track to premiere from it.
