Several years ago, the world lost an amazing experimental electronic duo, The Books. Known for their smooth cello parts, meditative vocals, and, most of all, bizarre VHS sampling, The Books put an end to their career after a 10 year run. Singer and guitarist Nick Zammuto, however, carried on solo after the band’s end.
Zammuto‘s music stays very much in line with The Books, getting a little bit less intuitive and more silly than before. We’ve heard the rockier tracks like “Great Equator,” “Hegemony,” and “IO,” but today he’s streaming his sophomore solo album, Anchor, in full over at NPR. The album can be pre-ordered before then or picked up at your local record store when it drops September 2 via Temporary Residence.
He will swing through Boston on November 7 where he will play Great Scott. The show is 21+ and tickets are $13 in advance. It’s best you go ahead and grab tickets now; his show at the Museum of Fine Arts several years ago was pretty packed.
