CALLING ALL UNSATISFIED WANDERLUSTERS: The Coathangers have released their “Drive” video via DAZED, and it might just cheer you up in four minutes’ time.
Atlanta-born and garage-punk-inspired, The Coathangers marked their place in the 2014 album pool with their shaggy and highly entertaining full-length Suck My Shirt, released last March. “Drive,” the final track off the album, serves as an adorably light send-off about farewells, love, and all that mush. Inevitably, the video measures up on the scale of endearment. The band’s GoPro Camera footage follows a woven-doll couple separated by the highways and byways of Mexico, Switzerland, Spain, France and, or course, California. The manual handling of the dolls within each shot only adds to the cute factor of it all, as does the upbeat tune itself.
And what else would you expect from a trio consisting of solely nicknamed members Crook Kid Coathanger, Minnie Coathanger, and Rusty Coathanger? “Homemade” seems to be a preferred adjective.
Without further adieu, I peer pressure you into checking it out:
