In anticipation for their sixth album/LP Rose Mountain, set to drop this February, Screaming Females has premiered the opening track: a sludgy, chordal showcase of all things punk titled “Empty Head.” Upon first listen, “Empty Head” is extremely identifiable is a product of the much-loved, New Jersey trio at hand, and that’s one hundred percent a good thing. Give the people what they want. Give the punks what they need.
It’s as if Screaming Females went down a laundry list of musical inclusions: minor keys, major keys, guitar layering, steady beats, occasional harmonies, commanding lyrics, and the feeling of karate-chopping a straw wrapper with your bare hands. That was too easy, you badass, you dog.
