Joining “Pedestrian At Best” as another single from Aussie cutie Courtney Barnett‘s upcoming Sometimes I Sit And Think, Sometimes I Just Sit, due out March 23rd, is the sweet and breezy “Depreston”- don’t let it get lost in your spring cleaning.
Simple, repetitive, and soft, but balanced together with the sharp vowels brought by Barnett’s accent, the chord progression dances as she describes a suburban home presumably belonging to an old woman. She lyrically explores the home, making the mundane seem beautiful- something Courtney Barnett seems to do best. Complete with surfy steel guitar, she adds a sunny charm to the dusty old contents of her song. The song spins around on the same line at its climax, much like in the cul-de-sac the charming video of winding suburban streets she’s released to accompany it.
