Last week, Lomelda and Long Beard stopped at Great Scott as part of a short run of shows together. Both bands put out releases this year, including Lomelda’s M for Empathy and They Can’t Sing Like Me as well as Long Beard’s Means to Me. The show was relatively stripped down with both acts playing as duos.
Throughout the night, the Boston audience was silent and respectful, even between songs while the bands were tuning. Lomelda’s set saw a brief moment of noise with fans softly singing along, but other than that, listeners let themselves be fully immersed in the stage performances. During Lomelda’s set, fans were treated to unique live arrangements of many of their songs and two unreleased tracks. Despite there only being two people on stage, the two made use of a large selection of sounds including ambient synth parts, bass clarinet loops, guitars, a drum machine, and an OP-1.
