Old Abram Brown left an indelibly positive note on the local music scene with 2010’s Restless Ghosts, and as we approach the release of their new EP, Summer Home on April 16th, we’ve got a brand new tune to share with you. “Letter Never Sent” is less a departure from OAB’s signature sound, and more a growth and refinement of their vocally-driven brand of rock. A thin layer of organ lays the fabric for Carson Lund’s vocal heft reminiscent of Cold War Kids’ Nathan Willett. Horns and hollowed guitar lines reflect the band’s tight operation, which is heightened around the 3 minute mark with an almost funky stoccato groove. From the sounds of it, Old Abram Brown are on top of their game for this new batch of tunes, and this is only the tip of the iceberg. If you want to get an even bigger preview of what’s to come from this band, come out to Great Scott on 4/10 for their EP release show with ABADABAD and Kid Mountain. It’s probably going to be the party of a lifetime, so clear your schedules for that night and be sure to check out Old Abram Brown’s new Summer Home EP out April 16th.
