Boston peeps,
Ever feel like you don’t get to see enough of those Brooklyn bands that all the cool kids are buzzing about? Ever feel like you wish your snobby New York pals knew more about your favorite Boston bands?
I think we’ve come up with a bit of a solution.
Allston Pudding and Brooklyn-based publication 1.21 Gigawatts have teamed up to bring you what we like to call the BROOKLYN EXCHANGE PROGRAM. This will be a concert series in which two Massachusetts bands and two Brooklyn bands play shows on two consecutive nights; one in Boston, the next night in Brooklyn.
We hope this will provide another step in the right direction towards increasing the presence of Boston music beyond Boston’s borders. We also see this as a great opportunity for Brooklyn bands, whose best alternative is to try and play basement gigs (a tough alternative considering the current state of Boston’s DIY scene), to play in front of an audience in a different format. And did we mention that the kickoff bill is one of the tastiest pieces of pastry we could have ever imagined? Here are the details:
5/16- Great Scott- Allston, MA
5/17- Silent Barn- Brooklyn, NY
If you do anything on 5/16, be sure it involves coming to Great Scott and showing some support. It’s going to be a killer show, and could be the start of something really cool between Boston and Brooklyn. Let’s show ’em how its done.
