Midriff Records is pleased to host this year’s AWESOME DAY 2014. Originated by Allston Rock group Tired Old Bones member Jesse Sherman as annual BBQ afternoons / shows at O’Briens; come enjoy an event that gives Allston Rock City it’s rep.
There will be 15 bands on 3 stages – participating locations are on everyone’s favorite corner of Harvard Avenue and Cambridge Street – O’Briens Pub, Regina Pizzeria and Store 54.
Awesome Day consists of a day into night bill of rock bands accompanied by BBQ on O Brien’s back patio. Sounds like a pretty awesome summer day!
Now onto the good stuff: who’s playing and where:
GONDOLIERS, TIRED OLD BONES, SOCCER MOM, HEY ZEUS, THE PROSELYTE, JIM HEALEY, QUARTERLY
Store 54: Show at 9pm / Donations Encouraged at the Door :

Regina Pizzeria: Show Starts at 9pm / Donations Encouraged at the Door
LIFESTYLE, ELDRIDGE RODRIGUEZ, EARTHQUAKE PARTY!, DJ KEN CMAR
Midriff Records’ Cameron Keiber spoke to us about some of the bands on the bill and what he expects for the future of Awesome Day.
AP: What bands are you most excited to see?
CK: I don’t know that there are any bands that I’m more excited to see than others. Gondoliers always destroy… I’m excited to see Thalia Zedek and M.G. Lederman and Lifestyle and Soccer Mom and Tired Old Bones and my band Eldridge Rodriguez is playing without a drummer this show so I’m excited to see how that train wreck plays out.
AP: Any bands on the bill have any weird/eclectic stories to them?
CK: There is no weirder band, with weirder members on this bill or anywhere in this hemisphere for that matter than Gondoliers. If you catch their set it will melt you, for real.

AP: What do you forsee the future of Awesome Day being?
CK: Going forward we hope to include more venues in the Allston area and more bands to the bills. Maybe an Awesome Weekend or an Awesome Week in a few years. Allston is a wonderful place, the Aspen of the East, and all the resources that you’d need to support a yearly multi-venue festival are all right here, in the Mass Riviera. I hope more and more people come out to Awesome Day and meet and interact with the Allston community and get to see what a wonderful, magical place Allston, MA is. And if people support endeavors like Awesome Day we can turn Allston, MA into a vacation destination, a place people want to return to regularly, not just go back to because they left their coat at the bar. As we grow we are hoping to bring more people to Allston and in turn help support the community and businesses in our hometown. And we want to put on fun, engaging different types of bills that rock.
