Local shoegaze rockers Darklands may not be on your radar yet, Darklands “St. Thaddeus” Full EP Premiere but they’re on course to be releasing their third annual EP of gloomy, understated and drowned out gems. Their new record St. Thaddeus is out tomorrow on New England Standard Records, but we’re really happy to be sharing it in its entirety a day early.
St. Thaddeus covers the full spectrum of influence that Darklands has shown in their two previous releases, from the dispondent and fuzzed out “When The Light Went Out Of Your Life” to the unabashedly alt-rock, grunge anthem “So Negative” to the melodic, catchy tune “Barton.”
The short, bittersweet record ultimately ends with what is debatably the band’s best to date, the melancholic and nearly eight minute “Hope.”
Darklands celebrate the release of St. Thaddeus by playing a mixed bill this Sunday night at O’Brien’s Pub with local heavies Aneurysm and Big Kill, as well as touring folks Emmett Drueding and Curtis Cooper. More info on this show: here.
The full St. Thaddeus EP is available on cassette from New England Standard: here.
