Okay, nurse so it may not be an actual mixtape, but calling it a ‘sampler’ just doesn’t sound right either. And Flowers And Bees is the first compilation from Disposable America and friends, featuring nineteen new songs available for streaming and free digital download. Highlights include fresh, unheard material from Boston locals Video Teeth, Strange Mangers, Caténine and Kevin King, as well as Brooklyn’s HOUNDSds and Soft Fangs. Wait, there’s more!
Mysterious newcomers The Big Splash and Faaroh make their premiere on the compilation, each contributing the very first taste of what are sure to be highly anticipated debut albums expected later this year.
Also worth noting is that And Flowers And Bees features two tracks from Massachusetts guitar pop favorite Jimmy Hewitt – the final release from his previous project Orca Orca (co-written with Samira Winter of Winter) and the second single from his latest incarnation as Lost Film.
A handful of the songs, like “Mirror Me” and “Small World,” are recent singles, but nearly two-thirds are brand new, previously unreleased and exclusive to the mixtape. While not everyone on And Flowers And Bees is directly affiliated with Disposable America, expect to see DA releases from at least a few in the coming months.
