On Saturday 11/19, I Prevail topped a stacked lineup to bring the TRUE POWER tour to Boston. The sold-out evening at MGM Music Hall marked one of the largest shows of the tour to date.
The Aussie pop punks of Stand Atlantic jump-started the show by treating early attendees to a short but energetic set. Fit For A King continued to quite literally kick things up a notch, with some acrobatics sprinkled in with the metalcore styling of the Texan rockers. Third up was Pierce The Veil, recently returned from a 5-year long hiatus. The anticipation for Pierce The Veil was easily apparent, and even a cursory glance at the front row revealed that many fans had come particularly for them. Pierce The Veil noticeably ramped up the energy in the music hall, and I Prevail had their work cut out for them to maintain the pace. I Prevail not only managed that feat, but continued to escalate things to the point where there were multiple moshes occurring simultaneously. The band played about half of their latest album, TRUE POWER, as well as a significant part of their 2019 album TRAUMA, and just a few songs from 2016’s Lifelines. I Prevail delivered a haymaker of a performance that had the crowd screaming along on all three levels of the music hall, and they ensured that the TRUE POWER tour lived up to its namesake.
