As the inevitably harsh winter settles into Boston, one may have many thoughts: how is 9 degrees even a thing, I didn’t know it was possible for my cheeks and overall face to feel pain, and does this wind have a personal vendetta against me, because it sure feels like it does. But one thing that you may not notice, is that in spite of the blistering cold and the treachery of an icy sidewalk, winter can actually be quite hauntingly beautiful. There is a certain type of captivating awe that comes from the stillness of a snowstorm, regardless of it’s effects on your car the next morning. UK based band Lanterns On The Lake’s upcoming tour with Massachusetts based bands Funeral Advantage and Strange Manners capture this ephemeral and delicate grace with dreamy folk and rock sounds. This will be the first time that Lanterns On The Lake will tour North America. Allston Pudding is giving you a chance to experience this night of lovely music, as we are giving away tickets to their show on February 4th at the Great Scott.

Lanterns On The Lake’s recent album ‘Until The Colours Run’ debut in October 2013. This powerful addition to their discography features beautifully crafted and harrowingly personal songs, in which the band expresses waves of emotion by employing rolling crests of sound. Try ‘Elodie’.
Other members on the bill include Funeral Advantage, an ambient and sweet dreampop band based out of Boston (check out their songs on their bandcamp) and Strange Manners, who have a more riveting and emotional alternative rock sound (check out their songs on their bandcamp).
