Exploding in Sound artist Leapling released the first single off of their upcoming album Vacant Page today.
The song, titled “Silent Stone,” is a spacey exploration, with hypnotic stream-of-conscious writing and light rhythms. At the very beginning, it doesn’t sound like a song by an Exploding in Sound artist, a label which boasts such artists as Krill, Kal Marks, and Pile. But by the time you get to the bridge, the rough experimental guitar and bass riffs seal the deal on this song. “Silent Stone” is streaming on soundcloud now:
Haven’t heard of Leapling? Here’s a quick lesson, son:
- Leapling is the brainchild of Brooklyn-based songwriter Dan Arnes, long-time members Yoni David drums, and R.J. Gordon on bass, and newbie Joe Postiglione on guitar.
- They got things started in 2013 with an EP called “Losing Face” on Father/Daughter Records.
Have a listen to that here:
- They are deep intellectual types, finessing their craft using innovative ventures in social media:
Sometimes when I’m out on the town socializing its bittersweet bc I know its time I coulda spent making some culturally significant tweets.— leapling (@leaplingband) December 9, 2014
- Their latest album Vacant Page is due out on February 10th via Inflated Records and Exploding In Sound.
