Last Saturday night, Lithics played O’Brien’s Pub as one of the last stops of their tour. The band performed alongside a great lineup of New England acts, including openers Splitting Image, who recently released their EP, Thank You, on the newly formed Illegally Blind record label. Following them was Stefan Christensen, the night’s only solo act, who played a captivating set of experimental and ambient sounds. The lights in the venue dimmed as the second to last band on the bill, (New England) Patriots, took to the stage for a uniquely heavy performance that drew in a dense crowd of local fans.
Closing the night out, Lithics’ performance cemented the show as one of the strongest of the summer so far. Fans of their 2018 release, Mating Surfaces, were happy to hear tracks from that record make an appearance during the night. And despite not spending much time talking in between songs, there was a strong synergy between all four members of the band, making for an easy-to-dance-to set.
