Well, this will lead to some confusing conversations. “No, not Parquet Courts. I’m talking about the new Parkay Quarts album.” Yep, Parquet Courts has rebranded itself as the phonetically identical Parkay Quarts, and announced a new album that will carry their new moniker. This alternate spelling begs the question why? Well, the change of name parallels a change in lineup.
The Indie-Rock group from Brooklyn had previously recorded with Andrew Savage (vocals, guitar), Austin Brown (vocals, guitar), Sean Yeaton (bass), and Max Savage (drums). However, a press release stated, “With one member completing a degree in mathematics, and another starting a family, Content Nausea features mostly the work of Andrew Savage and Austin Brown, with the help of a few friends — Jackie-O Motherfucker’s Jef Brown on saxophone and Eaters’ Bob Jones on fiddle.” So, there’s the lineup for the shiny, new Parkay Quarts.
We can expect a digital release of Content Nausea on November 11th, and a vinyl release shortly after on December 2nd. And, you can stream Parkay Quarts new song “Uncast Shadow of a Southern Myth” off SoundCloud.
