Boston’s punk and hardcore community came together for a massive show on May 6th to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Housed in the dimly-lit basement of Quincy’s South Shore Music Hall, health the show was a marathon demonstration of the past and present of Boston’s thriving punk scene. The night kicked off with furious performances by Sexcrement (not pictured), view Insult, Alpha and Omega and New Lows, as well as Converge offshoot Doomriders. A rare set by the briefly reunited Wrecking Crew was an evident favorite of the raging crowd. Providence-based hardcore veterans Dropdead followed up with an intense half-hour of tightly-coiled righteous anger, anchored by the intimidating presence of vocalist Bob Otis. Boston legends Slapshot were on second-to-last, inspiring the evening’s most unruly pit and highest concentration of stage dives. Metalcore heroes Converge headlined with a typically scorching set of insanely technical instrumentation and the cathartic screams of vocalist Jacob Bannon. All proceeds generated by ticket, merchandise and raffle sales were donated to the One Fund Boston.
