To promote her newest album, Isolation, Kali Uchis stopped by the House of Blues on Tuesday with Gabriel Garzon-Montano. The pair first met in a recording studio in Brooklyn, which led to Uchis bringing him along for her tour.
Garzon-Montano opened up the show, speaking to the crowd in Spanish and sporting pink high-heeled boots. The crowd was instantly charmed by both his smile and the band he brought along, with fans’ screams overlapping with his guitar riffs. At one point, Garzon-montano jumped into the barricade to sing to the crowd, but made a hard landing on the concrete in his boots and had to make an emergency exit off the stage. But luckily, he came back out and performed as if nothing had happened.
After the opening set, the stage was backlit and Kali Uchis emerged from a white curtain to serenade her fans. Many of the songs performed were from her new album, such as “Killer” and “Tomorrow.” She rocked a pearl bra and tasseled pants, which flowed as she danced around the stage. Only backed by a drummer and guitarist, Uchis looked and sang like a goddess as she hypnotized the crowd throughout her performance.
