PUP kicked off their tour in Boston at Royale last week in celebration of their new record, Morbid Stuff. The night’s lineup also included Diet Cig and Ratboys, both joining PUP on the road for the duration of the tour.
Ratboys started the night with a mix of older songs like “Molly” and newer ones like “Elvis Is In The Freezer” from their last full length release, GN. Throughout their set, the band looked to be having a good time, and those good vibes spread through the crowd and into the next performance. Keeping the energy high, Diet Cig’s set was fueled their endlessly energetic stage presence and powerful songs. The band’s front person Alex Luciano made use of the whole stage, spinning and power kicking throughout the show.
PUP closed the night out, playing in front of a banner featuring the cover art for Morbid Stuff. From beginning to end, The Canadian four piece gave fans exactly the type of show they wanted, as folks moshed, crowd surfed, and sang along the whole night. During some of the band’s more anthemic songs like “Dark Days” and “Sleep in The Heat,” the venue echoed with the sound of fans singing along. For the encore, PUP stayed on stage, saving the sold out Royale crowd from the theatrics of walking off and back on, and instead launched into the opening two tracks from 2016’s The Dream is Over.
