A little snow didn’t stop anyone from showing up to see the pop-punk band Real Friends last week at Royale, along with opening acts Boston Manor, Grayscale, and Eat Your Heart Out.
Currently on their first American tour, Eat Your Heart Out stepped onto the stage to start the night. They were followed by Philadelphia’s own Grayscale, who brought the crowd alive as crowd surfing began to flood the venue. The end of Grayscale’s set prepared the crowd for the punk-rockers Boston Manor, who were eager to get onstage for their first ever show played in their namesake city. The band raised the audience’s spirits up and led them to even more crowd surfing and moshing. As Boston Manor finished their set, the many heavy breathing and sweat glistening fans throughout the venue made it clear that everyone in the room was ready for the main act.
Real Friends brought a high-energy performance that had the crowd going wild with joy and excitement. Each of the five members gave it their all as they hopped and ran across the stage, challenging the crowd to match their energy level. The set was filled with many songs off of their latest record, Composure, with many throwbacks from their three previous records sprinkled throughout. So by the end of the set, as the crowd started to exit the venue, they were all too happy to even think to be bothered by the harsh cold and heavy snow awaiting them outside.
