Yes, pop-punk is still around and yes, you can find it here in Boston. Yeehaw! is a pop-punk, emo Boston band that claims to have originated in space. If you ask the guys, they will tell you, “We are Space Cowboys.” The 5-piece featuring Dylan Ewen and members of The Sulk Scouts, Animal Flag, A Guy Named Guy, and Burglary Years. Today they are releasing a brand new EP Demotivational Speaker. And just in time because this Friday (8/15) the crew is heading out on tour with New York-based Everything Ever. The tour is kicked off at The Monkey Palace in JP and you can check out the rest of the tour details below.
Engineered by Simon Katz and mixed/mastered by Zach Weeks (lovechild), Demotivational Speaker is a collection of eight tracks reminiscent of Saves The Day/Taking Back Sunday/+44 (true story: one time I saw Travis Barker play a full set with one arm in a cast!) days. While still upbeat in tempo and with plenty of vocal harmonies and shout-along verses, Yeehaw! sounds a bit more gritty than the pop-punk you’re probably accustomed to.
A note from Yeehaw!: “That this is our debut album on the planet earth, and we’d like to thank all earthlings that have accepted us on their mediocre planet and that we would literally do anything for our friends.”
