Jamaica Plain folktronic outfit Skinny Bones are very ready to release their new album, Skinni Dip, next Tuesday. So much so that they are letting us help in releasing a track from it into the world today.
“Shake Your Shoulders” is a spacey shuffle built on a foundation of stacked instrumental levels. Acoustic plucks create a stoccato bounce, creating a light ambience for vocals to take command. “I don’t think you will be anything without me,” is the resonating lyric that gives way to a burst of percussion, forming a cacophony of loops that carries the song until its end.
“Shake Your Shoulders” is the first single from Skinni Dip, the band’s new 5-song EP that drops next week. The tracks were produced by Skinny Bones’ own Jacob Rosati, and mastered by Nolan Eley, who you may know as the guitarist in Infinity Girl and Winter. Skinny Bones have a few local dates lined up early this summer, so be sure to give a listen to the new EP and make it out to one of their gigs next month to hear this material live.
