After a long week of answering emails, trudging through shifts, and waking up to “Marimba” each morning, there’s really no better way to blow off some steam than with a night of post-grundge emo listening. How about three shades of it? That’s right. This Thursday night, the touring trio of Creepoid, Balance And Composure and Seahaven are coming to Paradise Rock Club to help you (yes you) ease into the weekend with some head-banging therapy.

With Boston sitting as one of the last spots on the groups’ North American tour, all three are worth seeing before emo is deemed “uncool” again. Savannah-by-way-of-Philadelphia band Creepoid is expected to play a fair amount of material off of their self-titled LP, released with No Idea Records early last March. The LP’s dynamic is quite possibly as dramatic as an emo-child’s hand-scrawled notebook lyrics, and we love it all the same: from acoustic plucking to heavy chord eruption. Concurrent with Creepoid itself, this LP goes a lot of places and should be an emotional treat to hear live.

But, regardless of novelty, there’s certainly no undermining what Balance and Composure and Seahaven have in store for Paradise attendees this Thursday. Also through No Sleep Records, B&C’s two full-lengths albums and assortment of EPs have been bringing effective emotion to unassuming listeners since 2009. Last year’s album The Things We Think We’re Missing serves as a solid example of the group’s don’t-knock-my-noise-‘til-you-try-it style, which is more than likely going to fill their set.

Alongside this thrashing, Seahaven’s indie-pop-punk is expected to provide a nice compliment. Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only, released this past March, unexpectedly turned the ears of loyal listeners away from the dark woods toward the beach. Punks can give their stamp of approval to the Los Angeles group’s lighter shoegazing, and those with sensitive ears can look forward to swaying and breathing easy for at least one set. It’s a win-win.

Creepoid plus Balance and Composure plus Seahaven equals just what that kink in your neck needs: more head banging. Head over to Paradise Rock Club this Thursday to get your weekly dosage. Tickets are available here. Show starts at 6:00. Bring your angst as currency. But bring your ticket, that too.
