Amherst’s California X do trek through the Boston area quite often, but their last show always holds the best memory. This band never ceases to bind the riffs tighter and pull more energy into focus. The comradery that unfurls from that dark intensity leaves you with such a post-show spark.
The January release of ‘Nights In The Dark’ can only lead to an even stronger live show. It stands as a mind-boggling, smart piece of hardcore with all of its bravery and you’ll be sure to hear some of it if you stop by O’Brien’s on Saturday. California X will share the night at O’Brien’s with Blessed State, Summer Saints, Laika’s Orbit, and Ladypilot.
Blessed State, also from Western Massachusetts, is a dynamic four piece hardcore band that includes so many different layers to get that haunting heaviness.
Summer Saints is coming from Brooklyn and bringing a wildly fun sound along with them. The band manages to mesh bright guitar pieces with fuzz and lots of crash cymbal. At times it feels as though you went to three different places within their three minute songs.
Laika’s Orbit charms with their honest lyrics and swift instrumentals. They might even get you to dance a little.
Doors are at 7:00pm with a $10.00 ticket. This show is 21+.
