On September 21st, Sleater-Kinney and Liz Phair took the stage at MGM Music Hall for a night of nostalgia and revolution. Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney delivered an hour and a half of pure rock-and-roll greatness with hits like “Dig Me Out,” “Modern Girl,” and “Jumpers”, among others. Before leaving the stage, the legendary duo commented on the state of the country, giving the crowd a sense of hope: “It’s easy to sit in the quiet corners…but the closer you get to life, the louder it is. Grief is loud, pain is loud… but so is joy.” They added, “There are so many people in this world who do not have a voice…we have to speak up on their behalf.” On their last night with Liz Phair on the Flannel and The Fury Tour, Sleater-Kinney certainly went out with a bang.
The entire room erupted in applause once The iconic Liz Phair walked onstage. She opened with “Supernova”, a perfect way to start her set and get the crowd excited. Commenting on the act before hers, she said earnestly, “They inspire the sh*t out of me, and I respect the sh*t out of them.” Phair went on to perform hits like “F*ck and Run”, “Divorce Song”, and of course, “Why Can’t I” to close out the special evening.
