It’s been a big year for St. Vincent, but Annie Clark isn’t turning in her role as a musical powerhouse anytime soon. After releasing her new self-titled album, doing a massive tour, and guest starring on several tracks and documentaries (ahem, Swans and Kate Bush), she will release two new songs on Record Store Day’s Black Friday on November 28. The exclusive release will see the songs, titled “Pieta” and “Sparrow”, coming out on a 10″ with bright blue artwork (seen above) and foil packaging. Both were recorded with John Congleton during the St. Vincent sessions. If it’s as pure punk as her last Record Store Day release, 2012’s “Krokodil” b/w “Grot”, we’ve got a lot to look forward to.
In addition to a new release from St. Vincent, Record Store Day’s Black Friday takeover will also see releases from OutKast, The Decemberists Wu-Tang Clan, Jenny Lewis, Conor Oberst, Mastodon, The Flaming Lips, and a Morrissey-curated Ramones compilation on store shelves. Look out, Newbury Comics. We’re coming for ya.
