Former Bostonians Dirty Dishes have been busy amidst the balmy chaos that is Los Angeles putting together their freshman album that has us on our toes. After a string of EPs and singles, the group has grown into themselves, pulling together all that raw, ironically pleasant uneasiness rampant in their skittish off-brand of shoegaze in Guilty.
Coming right at you with their claws out from the very start, Guilty is aggressive in a seemingly nonchalant way. Jenny Tuite’s delicate voice strains distantly over heavy-handed drums and disjointed, fuzzy guitar, creating a harmonious kind of cacophony. Dropping “Red Roulette” as a single back in December, Dirty Dishes has been baiting us for something good- and it’s well worth the wait. Stream their debut album, Guilty, via Stereogum and preorder a copy for when it comes out on the 27th here.
