Last week New York bands Bodega and Gustaf, a duo that compliment each other perfectly, played Boston as one of the last stops of their tour. Locals Boston Cream played the opening set, and all three bands made sure that the crowd at Great Scott had a fun time the whole night.
Boston Cream’s onstage dance routines and fun vocal harmonies were a great way to kick off the show, followed by an unforgettable performance from Gustaf. Over the course of their set, the audience was treated to clarinet, pitch shifted vocals, easy-to-dance-to instrumentation, and front person Lydia Gammill’s impossible-to-ignore onstage energy.
Last up was Bodega, who started their set off strong by launching straight into “Jack in Titanic.” Throughout the show, the band continued to play more tracks from 2018’s Endless Scroll, with highlights such as the incredibly catchy “Bookmarks,” and an extended version of “Can’t Knock the Hustle.” Bodega finished the night by enlisting eager members of the audience to participate in the show, at one point even handing a cymbal into the crowd. Gustaf joined them on the stage as well, and members from both bands went back and forth between the crowd and stage.
