Israeli-born singer Asaf Avidan is set to release his first album Gold Shadow in North America next week. NPR is currently streaming the full album, which takes into account an assortment of influences. At first it’s hard to tell if you’re listening to a female or male sing these songs. You will find moments of him channeling artists like Billie Holiday and Bob Dylan, but these songs are strictly Avidan’s.

Avidan will perform at The Paradise Rock Club this Thursday, February 5th. Tickets are $33.
