Cambridge based experimental pop outfit The Symptoms are gearing up for a huge summer with the release of their debut full length LP “Lens” dropping on July 2nd. The 10 song LP, no rx recorded at Herd Studio, features heavy synths, beautiful guitar melodies, and haunting falsettos from front man James Fraser. The dense landscape of the album floats gracefully from dark and moody ambiences to catchy upbeat pop jams, and will surely be one of the best releases Boston will see this year. Although the band is young, with a mix of Emerson and Northeastern students, their ability to construct unique and diverse songs rival that of veteran bands like Radiohead or Alt-J. Lyrically, the album is nothing short of poetic, with a blend of catchy choruses and abstract metaphors that will worm their way inside your brain and stick to your skull like glue.
We were fortunate enough to meet up with the four piece at Herd Studio to get a behind the scenes look at their process, we put together this little teaser so you now you can to:
Make sure to catch The Symptoms at their Album Release Show at Great Scott on July 2nd presented by Illegally Blind and joined by Skinny Bones and Tall Juan.
