Daniel Caesar recently made a stop at TD Garden on his “Son of Spergy” tour, bringing fans together to sing along to favorites. Known for his R&B and neo-soul sound, Caesar had fans feeling every last bit of emotion behind the words.
Fans united outside with great patience as they slowly made their way in from the line wrapping around the venue. Faye Webster, singer-songwriter from Georgia known for her soulful sound that blends elements from indie, folk, and alternative music fired things off. Fans enjoyed her mellow and familiar tunes like “Thinking About You” and “Right Side of My Neck”, both of which have upbeat rhythms and airy vocals that flow through each lyric smoothly.
Once Faye Webster finished her set, TD Garden was left ready for more. Every minute was counted down with fans watching their phones to check the time. Some would guess what minute would strike for the lights to go down and others would text friends sitting across the venue. The screen behind the platform fired up with 10 minutes until show time and started seeking out people around the venue to zoom in on. Time flew by with the cameras zooming into people unaware of their surprise appearance on the big screen. With fans distracted, the screen turned off, and the house lights blaring turned into the roaring screams of the crowd. Smoke filled up the stage and Daniel Caesar walked out onto the set.
His performance was felt as the ground shook with each beat drop. His setlist spotlighted tracks from his newest release, Son of Spergy like “Have a Baby (With Me)” and “Who Knows”. These tracks use more natural sounds like grand pianos and acoustic guitars that bring the songs alive and help them breathe through each note. Combined with older tracks like “Japanese Denim” and “Best Part”, the venue came together to make the room echo with voices as many sang along to their favorite songs. Casesar’s stop in Boston had fans showing their love and support, solidifying just how much Boston in turn loves him.
