Allston Pudding’s Boston Calling Lineup Picks

Hey it’s here the Boston Calling lineup. Some of it is questionable (Eminem, Queens of the Stone Age) but per usual, the undercard really shines with artists we love like Noname, (Sandy) Alex G, Big Thief, Julien Baker, and so much more. The comedy section brings heavy hitters (They finally got Natalie Portman involved!) with the incredible podcast Pod Saves America, Jenny Slate, and Cameron Esposito to name some of our picks. Check out the full lineup, and keep your eyes peeled on the site in about a month where we will be running a giveaway for two three-day GA passes to the festival!

You can buy *limited* early bird passes HERE.

The tippity top: The Killers

Hot Fuzz is quite arguably one of the greatest albums of all-time, and although we’re slightly surprised to see them at the very top of the lineup, we’re excited.

The top: Paramore

Along with quite a few artists in the lineup, Paramore’s 2017 album After Laughter was one of our favorites of the year. It’s refreshing to see them selected for a festival that’s not punk/pop-punk/emo oriented and to have them towards the top where they belong.

The top: Khalid

Khalid had an incredible 2017, and 2018 is going to be the year he gets on the map. We’re excited that Boston Calling is one of the opportunities he’s been given to bring his incredible music to the masses.

The top: BROCKHAMPTON

Thank the Lorde we don’t have to shell out a ton of money on StubHub to see BROCKHAMPTON at the House of Blues anymore before they call this project quits.

The undercard: Julien Baker

Did you know that we love Julien Baker? Didn’t think so. We’re looking forward to maybe taking a nice seat on the Harvard turf, relaxing, and getting emotional with our friends in the middle of the day to take a much needed break from the heavy hitters later in the evening.

The undercard: Noname

Honestly Noname should be higher on this festival lineup, but we digress. She’s played Boston very few times in incredibly sold out small shows, so it’ll be nice to see her on a big stage that she will command with her unrelenting presence.

The undercard: Big Thief

Big Thief’s show at The Sinclair this past year was one of the most incredible live performances we’ve ever had the pleasure to witness. Do yourself a favor and Do. Not. Miss. Their. Set. Maybe you’ll laugh. Maybe you’ll cry. Maybe you’ll hug a stranger. (make sure to ask them first) The only thing we can guarantee is that your jaw will be dropped for at least 75% of their set.

The local: STL GLD

Boston Calling always picks some great local acts to kick off the day like Krill, Palehound, and Vundabar in the past, and this year is no exception. STL GLD is a perfect pick given their recent accolades at the Boston Music Awards and on our year-end list for their 2017 album Torch Song.
