The Boston music community’s response to the Boston Marathon tragedy has been huge. Various shows, mixtapes, and other acts of kindness have reflected very positively on our city’s artists and musicians, and their willingness to pull together to help a greater cause. This Sunday at Elk’s Lodge in Cambridge, BENIFEST will pull together various niches and corners of Boston’s DIY community to raise money for the One Fund Boston. The event will feature a stacked lineup of musicians from various ranks of the local scene, as well as food, drink, art for sale, and a record/merch/tape raffle. We’re extremely happy to have a wee bit of involvement in this event, but huge thanks are due to Matt Altieri, the supreme dudes of Boston Hassle, the fine folks of Bad Seed Booking, and the rad fellas at Midnight Werewolf Records for scraping this event together so quickly with such an endless lineup of tunes and good times. The show will start promptly at 6 on Sunday at the Cambridge Elk’s Lodge and end promptly at 11, but in between those times, have a ridiculous amount of fun and show an even more ridiculous amount of support. A 10-20$ sliding scale donation is asked for admission, but once you’re in the door, don’t be shy about spreading around some of that extra cash for art or raffle tickets. This is a terrific way for, say, any old Joe Sly to get involved, so come on out and show your support!
