Ahh, April. Spring has finally sprung (jk it’s still fkn cold) and love is in the air. Soon these April showers will bring May flowers BUT I got something better than that. For your viewing pleasure, I present to you a guy who ain’t no April fool, Grass Is Green’s Devin McKnight.
Grass Is Green describes themselves as part of that super well-known and beloved “post-dick wave” genre, but I think they are reminiscent of 90s noise bands made complete with heavy guitar riffs and vocals raw with emotion. Their newest 7”Split Dicks (they just love dick y’all) is a collaboration with Maryland band Two Inch Astronaut. GIG’s two songs on the release are their most energetic + hardcore stuff yet.
In typical fashion, GIG started back in 2010 when guitarist Devin (who already knew singer Andy) moved to Boston and met drummer Jesse through a mutual friend. Later on they met bassist Michael, and the rest is Allston rock history.

The Student Has Become The Master
After graduation from the University of Maryland, Devin wanted to pursue music, so he moved to Boston to attend Berklee. When he isn’t working with Grass is Green, Devin teaches little kids how to play guitar and is a substitute teacher.
Who knew that underneath that rocker exterior there was such a softy! Well, I guess everyone who knows about Devin’s other project, Badknight, in which he plays acoustic guitar along to singer Emily Lenae’s delicate vocals. It’s like, imagine you’re in a forest and there is a beautiful man serenading you with his gentle fingerpicking… If you want to turn this romantic fantasy into a reality, Badknight is having an album release show at Great Scott on May 9th.
That Hair Tho
Devin’s big beautiful head of hair makes him standout. Not only is it super touchable and luscious (At least I think so. I had to resist from running my hands through it.), but I believe it takes a lot of confidence to pull off the ‘fro.
