The beastly Brian’s from Providence are back, baby. Lightning Bolt has returned with a vengeance, sharing the audio for the song “The Metal East” that’s going on be on their previously announced album Fantasy Empire that’s dropping next month. All the familiar traits of Lightning Bolt are there: Brian Gibson’s throbbing, alt-tuned bass and Brian Chippendale’s manic-style drumming and signature vocals. But, in an interesting turn, this track feels a bit more measured and maybe even a little less chaotic than other stuff from the duo in the past.

You can check it out for yourself below as well as some tour dates. Here’s to hoping that they’re able to throw in a few under-the-table dates closer to home. And, even if that doesn’t happen, let’s face it, Lightning Bolt would be worth the trip to literally wherever.
