For those of us still mourning The Books‘ 2012 split-up, time doesn’t heal all wounds. Solo albums do. And thanks to bisect of the group Paul de Jong, the heartbroken can once again get their folktronic fill.

His debut solo album IF has officially been announced, and it’s set to release April 28 via Temporary Residence. Promise made, be sure to check out de Jong’s opening track “Auction Block” in the meantime. It still sounds characteristically “patchworked” together like a bow-strung home video even without other bisect Nick Zammuto‘s input, validating our unconditional appreciation for The Books in all forms.

We loved them together. We’ll love them apart as well.
