Slothrust Gives “The Pact” A Proper Sendoff

Last Sunday, Slothrust wrapped up their tour with a show at The Sinclair. They were joined on the bill by Weakened Friends, and the two band show made for a great night. Many songs from Weakened Friends’ most recent full length, Common Blah, made it into their set, as well as some new tracks. The trio’s energetic stage presence was a great way to start things off, and greatly complimented Slothrust’s following headlining set.

Slothrust had the crowd hooked from start to finish. Fans following their tour may have heard that earlier dates had been cancelled due to illness, but during this performance, the three piece put on a perfect show. Throughout the night, all three members took opportunities to showcase their musicianship, with singer and guitarist Leah Wellbaum belting popular tracks out along with the crowd. The Sinclair show was also her first crowd surfing experience, as folks in attendance lifted her into the crowd and then back onto the stage. Bassist Kyle Bann and drummer Will Gorin also had their own stand out moments onstage, including a drum and bass medley with snippets of popular songs like “I Want It That Way” by the backstreet boys and “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit.

This show was the second on their touring cycle for their latest album The Pact, and also the last show of the tour, so the crowd helped to give the record a proper sendoff. The band closed the night out with an encore performance of “Crockpot,” but even after leaving the stage for a second time, fans continued to chant for more.
