Touring in celebration of their March release, The Devil You Know, The Coathangers played a Marathon Monday night show at Boston’s Great Scott. They were accompanied solely by locals, The Downhauls, as Big Bite was originally slated to be on the bill, but had to pull out last minute due to a medical emergency.
Taking the stage in matching golden outfits, The Coathangers jumped into a set that covered multiple albums in their discography. Some songs like “F The NRA” saw more crowd participation than others, but the room maintained a lively vibe the whole night, with folks singing along to many of the band’s catchy choruses. The band put on a great show from beginning to end, but songs such as “Hurricane,” “Shut Up” and “Squeeki Ticki” stood out as crowd pleasers, and newer songs like “Bimbo” and “Hey Buddy” offered a great audience experience. The Coathangers ended the night with a three song encore, which included “Perfume,” a fan’s request from earlier that night.
