Dirty Beaches has broken up. If one could even use the phrase “break up” to apply to a one man band. Regardless of phraseology, Alex Zhang Hungtai and Dirty Beaches have decided to part ways. To clean up his act, so to speak.
Functioning under his alias since 2005, he’s put out six full length albums in addition to an expansive collection of EPs, all featuring the dark, undulating instrumentation Hungtai’s made himself known for. Producing music akin to a horror movie soundtrack, this breakup comes in time for Hungtai to take a much needed break before he reroutes his music career to a new solo act, this time under his own name.
RIP DIRTY BEACHES 2005-2014.
