The story goes that Buck Meek got his start busking on crowded Harvard Square street corners, and the indie folk star returned on a recent (and steamy) Wednesday in July, this time bringing his wife Germaine Dunes and their band Kisser along as the opening act. Kisser played several brand new releases, including “Bad Boy Mountain” and “Ghostgirl” teasing a full album coming out later in the year. Fans of Meek’s other project Big Thief could draw a lot of parallels between the sonic technicality of his riffs, pairing well with Dunes’ quirky lyrics.

Buck Meek played a set heavy with tracks from his 2026 release Mirror, choosing the lead single “Gasoline” to kick things off. He rounded out the set with hits like “Pareidolia” and a sparese acoustic version of Big Thief’s “Uncertainty”. The bridges and solos of each song took on a greater power live, utterly hypnotizing the crowd. His focus only ruptured once- at the surprise POP! of a broken guitar string (he borrowed Dunes’ guitar for a quick fix). Meek ended the night with a heartfelt thank you to Boston for helping him find his roots. Can’t wait for him to come back!
